The Perfect Tree Topper

I love old fashioned Christmas ornaments......even if they are new ones made like the old ones. We've always had a bow at the top of our tree....this is because I have never, in all these years, been able to find a tree topper that I liked. I wanted a star because of the star in the Bible leading folks to Christ. But none of them really tripped my trigger. Until last week:

I was attending the Illinois Main Street conference in Decatur and of course we had to explore their downtown. I found this Wendy Addison star in one of their cute shops. It's perfect...just what I was looking for...extremely sparkly with out actually having lights in it, large but not heavy, and two sided in case I ever have the tree in the middle of a room. And it only took me 26 years to find it!

This post was written for Houseblogs.net as part of a sweepstakes sponsored by SC Johnson’s Right@Home. Check them out at www.rightathome.com . Also please check out houseblogs.net for more entries.

Today Joe and Mike both had the day off and we made a pilgrimage of sorts. Well, if you are a hunter or fisherman it is. This is a huge store with displays of wildlife that are almost like a museum's.
Giant aquariums line an entire room....we got there just as feeding time began. I had fun keeping my guys company, knit socks on the car ride, and believe it or not, bought more than they did. I found some great shoes that will be perfect to wear to work this winter.

Oh, so that is why you weren't home today.

I love your star!

Hi - see you're on your blog right now - just stopped by to say Hi and to tell you I love your star. I've been looking for the just the right one for a long time. I had a couple of angels, one with real feathers, and after storing her in the attic with the other Christmas deco, all the feathers disintegrated! I'm back to looking for stars again - Thanks for your comment on my blog. It's a slow process - there's some really spiffy ones out there, aren't there? Vickie

Love the ornaments. Oh we love Cabela's, only we don't have one close to us. Our trip up north was fast as I knitted the whole time I wasn't driving.

Great entry--since it's about the holidays you should enter it in to the Houseblogs.net 'home for the holidays' contest...we're giving away $250 to the winner. The instructions are available from our home page. The deadline is today though so you'd have to do it quicky.

thanks for your comment on my blog,, your right, we do have a lot in common. I too have always used a bow on my christmas tree, I have never seen a star or angel that I like so much to put on my tree. I have three trees in my house that will go up after Thanksgiving and can't wait to see how they turn out. I just bought my camera tonight, will be posting pictures very soon.
Talk soon. Happy Thanksgiving...Tracey
