Home is where the heart is....

I gave the dog a bath, changed the mantle from Halloween to autumn decor, made a fire in the fireplace and I'm doing laundry. I'm going to knit a little while the next load is drying. I feel so content being here getting these things done. I know that doesn't sound like an exciting day, but I'm looking forward to the day when I can spend my days at home again.

I love running the shop, but I don't like being away from home and having things fall so behind here. I don't think it will happen anytime right away though. The shop is starting to pick up and I'm hoping the income from that can help with our daughter's college expenses. I don't want to give you the impression that I'm the perfect homemaker even when I am home though...I usually have a ton of projects, volunteering, and of course I always have struggled with being organized. But this is where my heart is.

I love to put lights on the mantle. When we renovated the kitchen, I had them put an outlet on the mantle. Now I can have the lights with out cords draping all over. It's pretty easy to hide the outlet with greenery, photos or other objects.

I love being home. I'm lucky enough to work for Jim and have an office here above the garage. Your mantle looks pretty. I love our wood stove but you don't get a mantle with that.

Oh so cozy...wish we had a working fireplace...it would be so nice on a day like today! Love your mantle and that sweet doggie of yours.

I just love your blog, and your dog is just so cute.

I could frame this scene and place it over my fake fireplace. That would be a great improvement. LOL

I understand your heart....mine is at home as well...and now I'm home again. My last day of work was yesterday. Ahhhh....home again.

Im a home body too, and since I work from home, I have to force myself to go out occasionally, so I dont get cabin fever!
I love your mantle, and your shop looks cosy too!

Indeed, I know what you are saying. I'd love to be retired from my "real" job so that I could spend more time at home and at the shop. Love your mantle outlet idea! ~Mindy

I'm not sure where else to reply...feel free to erase this. I am using a template called Minima Stretch. I recently changed to it, and am enjoying the spaciousness. It is a blogger template. ~Mindy
