Stars and Stripes Everywhere!

Today after work I drove around admiring all the flags. This is not a pretty bridge, but the town decks it out with flags on the holidays and that makes it beautiful and fun to drive down.
They've also started putting flower boxes all along the bridge and it does make it look nicer.
I stopped on the other side of town to take a picture of a whirly gig that I saw while garage sale-ing. Bicycle wheels and funnels...I love it. The lady who lived here was nice to tell me I could take a picture.
Back home again on the patio, having a Coke. My little fountain needs a bigger basin...it's splashing quite a bit. I'd love to have a good sized fish pond to put him in. And a picket fence..I think that would be very cute all around our yard. What do you wish you had in your yard?

Woah! There's your Crocs! Love those things! Anyway, I would love to have a fountain in my garden at FYNA. In fact, my hubby and I were just talking about it yesterday. I would like to have a vintage water pump with water coming through that. He's my Jack-of-All-Trades,so hopefully I got his mind working and he can set one up for me. Need to find an old water pump first! Oh well!

Thanks for sharing the pics. Your flower garden looks so nice! I would just like to have a plan for my backyard, but if I had to pick something for my yard it would be trees. I would love to have at least 1 tree in my backyard. Oh well, maybe next year.

I just love to visit your blog exspecialy when it about gardening. I have always wanted a pair of crocs. I have some want to be crocs. Well about your guestion what would I want in my garden. Well it is kinda a simple answer. I have been gardener for over 10 years now, but I have taken so many plant out and changed my mind on this plant and that plant. That I would just want my garden to look established. I do have the mature plants and tress that are priceless, now I would just like my empty flower beds to look full.I am hoping by next year they will be full. I want it to be so full that it keeps the weeds out. I have decided that once a month I will buy a mature plant or perennial. And each time I am going think out carefully what I want and where I want to but it.
Thank-you for asking what we would like in our gardens. I just love your arch.
Take care,
ginger

Very nice back yard. Since I have a rolling lawn, I would love to have steps leading down to my veggie garden. It would be better on my knees. Also alot less rocks. We pick a rock here in MO, 5 more are born. LOL

Hi, I enjoy looking at your blog from time to time. Beautiful backyard by the way.

Just wanted to tell you about the whirly-gig. That's made from bicycle rims and old cream seperator parts, known as 'dishes'. I would love to have one in my back yard. I'm a collector of all sorts of stuff like that.

It's so fun to hear what everyone would like in their yards!

Melanie, thank you for telling me about the whirly-gig....I would never have guessed that those were cream separator parts.

Your yard looks great! My cousin's a senior sculpture student at Univ. of FL (go gators!) and would definately be inspired by that bicycle piece. Always boggles my mind how people just come up with those ideas. As for additions to our yard...hmm...while watching the Olymic trials last night, DH and I thought about adding a long jump sand pit to our back yard, but decided that would just be a phase - ha! I'd like to have an outdoor retreat towards the back of our yard complete with a screened-in tent (I get bug bites from being out for 2 minutes!) and lots of pillows and many strings of white Christmas lights - sort of an escape from the housework chores! Oh, and there'd be a big pillow for Rufus! :)

Your yard does look great!! I love your arbor. Are you still planning on going to Ft. Wayne this week? I am 2 to 2.5 hours from there.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

Nice pictures. I love that one of your yard.
I would love to have a deck, arches and trellises with lots of flowers growing up them.
