"To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk."

I love art, gardening, junking and all kinds of vintage stuff! This blog will have treasures I find, things I have remade into new treasures, cool vintage stuff- and also photos I take of garden art and recycling that I find on my jaunts. And of course it will feature my home...the ultimate recycling/renovating project!

Installing the Bookshelf
Joe has been working in the garage building a floor to ceiling bookshelf. Now he's installed it and is trimming it out. We've hit a glitch though...we were using the same vintage trim that was behind the shelf...tall mop board. ...and somehow we're a little short. Now we're pondering on where we can take some from a less noticeable spot to fill in. It's going to be great to have all these shelves. We've got a lot of books, and up until now no good homes for them. I"ll be pleased to get them rounded up and in their place!

Can you steal some from behind the wash machine and dryer, or maybe the fridge. Is there any in the closets or perhaps the pantry?
What a fabulous shelving unit!
It's going to be beautiful, but if your family is anything like mine, one won't be enough. Don't tell Joe just yet! LOL
There is a place in KC that does custom molding. You can send in a sample of yours and they will custom fit a head on a planer to match your existing molding. You would have to re-stain to match, but I am guessing Joe is going to have to stain the book case as well. It is kind of pricey, but if you only need a couple of feet, might be worth it.
What a fantastic bookshelf!
We hope to build a couple to flank our fireplace eventually. It's on a long list (constantly changing in priority) of 'to-do'.
