Anyway the answer is, "Yes, we did draw!" We did find that sometimes, despite our determination to slow down and draw, we got carried away with experiencing the island and didn't leave enough time. So, we'd finish up in the evenings or sometimes work from photos we took. The drawing I was working on above is almost done in the pic below:
Jennifer saved bits and pieces of wrappers, napkins and tickets to make postcards to send home. It's a fun way to use all those great little scraps, and would work in your sketchbook too. Here's one all done:
We had a wonderful time one day, trying to draw this waterfall. Neither of us was successful, but we had a great time and we went swimming in this pool when we got frustrated. It was very cold water...and lots of fun!
We took tons of photos to work from in the evenings and after returning home. I've started working from some since I've been back. We tried to take close ups of buildings and foliage, as well as broad views, and this has helped quite a bit. I did this watercolor from a photo we took earlier in the day.

YOU SHOULD MARKET YOUR WORKS, TURN THEM INTO CARDS, TAGS, FRAME THEM, MAYBE YOU'RE DOING THIS ALLREADY, IF NOT, YOU SHOULD, THEY'RE LOVELY. YOU HAVE SO MUCH TALENT, DON'T HIDE IT :) GIO STOP OVER & SAY HI!
Thank you for the encouragement! Lately several friends have been telling me similar things about my drawings, so I'm looking into giving it a go!
hi again thanks for stopping by are you from ohio also? gio
Your vacation looks awesome! I think you should look into doing something about your work...It's beautiful!
Wow - lovely watercolors!!! Just naively wondering how you did them, water color (the paintbrush, or pencil kind) first and then the black outline? Or do you sketch? Watercolor? Outline? Just wondering. (smile)

Hi Diane,
I do them both ways...sometimes drawing with ink first, sometimes watercoloring first. Both of the drawings in this post were inked first then watercolored. Just depends on my mood. I rarely use pencil, because then I get caught up in trying to get things perfect...erasing, then drawing, erasing some more, etc. With ink, I have to commit...and if I hate a line I just redraw it, leaving the old line to become part of the finished drawing.
